Speech Therapy is a skilled treatment to help individuals gain independence in speech, language, and swallowing after injury, illness, or disease. Our speech-language pathologists work in several settings that include nursing home rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation, home health services, and pediatric/early intervention services. Within these settings speech-language pathologists will conduct patient evaluations to assess the individual's skills in speech, receptive and expressive language, swallowing, and memory. Speech therapy services provide for the evaluation and treatment of several diseases/disorders including traumatic brain injury, stroke, neurological disease, developmental delay, apraxia, and learning disabilities. Treatment is individualized to the patient and patient education is provided to maximize the patient's progress. Pediatric/Early Intervention Services Speech-language pathologists specializing in pediatric and early intervention services address the needs of the child while assisting the family to understand the child's deficits.
